GUMBO LE FUNQUE’S MARDI GRAS PARTY DESCENDS ON GREEN MOUNTAIN FALLS

August 13, 2012 (Green Mountain Falls, CO) — Denver’s own New Orleans-inspired blues/funk band, Gumbo le Funque, is playing a show on August 24 at the Silver Tongued Devil in Green Mountain Falls.

A band of actual Acadians and long-time jazz and Dixieland musicians, Gumbo le Funque’s muscular groove sound is funky modern roots music that pays homage to the musical melting pot that is the Big Easy. The show will include covers from Dr. John, Professor Longhair and the Funky Meters, as well as originals from longtime jazz saxophonist and band leader, Jason Justice.

“We’re glad to be in the Waldo Canyon area this summer,” says band leader and saxophonist, Jason Justice. “This part of the state has been through a lot this year, and there’s no better cure for these kind of blues than music from the part of the country that also knows natural disasters all too well.”

Says band guitarist and co-leader, T-Bone, “We’ve brought our experience with all kind of music together in the sound of this band. New Orleans has been the birthplace of so much of America’s popular, multicultural music, and we think this is another kind of roots music that Colorado needs to hear.”

Gumbo le Funque’s show at the Silver Tongued Devil in Green Mountain Falls starts at 8 p.m. There is no cover.
