The story of our new album, #PowerLoveFreedom
TIMES ARE TOUGH. People seem to be afraid to have the tough conversations but really only want what’s best for each other. These songs are about that tension, about that responsibility and about stepping outside our comfort zone. We need courage and love and optimism, and these songs are intended to offer support.
#PowerLoveFreedom is our third studio album, and we’ve been inspired by the people around us, who teach us to listen to voices that aren’t normally heard. It has been a hard lesson, but this work matters.
This album was recorded in the Mile High City (Denver, CO) at Mighty Fine Productions, Xandy Whitesel (Bon Iver’s soundman), engineer.
Come and join us on this journey toward healing our world. Let’s funque to a new future together.
“We must love and support each other; we have nothing to lose but our chains.”

The Lyrics
#PowerLoveFreedom
I thought I was alone, I couldn’t see in front of me
You showed me a way I could be with family
Only a fool could deny We have a vision and not a lie
Holding hands, making love shoulder to shoulder, we live as one
We’ve got Power
Love
Freedom
Everyone
We’ve got Power
Love
Freedom
Understand
Come on, come quick
Get yourself into your trip
Stand strong, be love Face it together, unite as one
Fight the power, free the heart
Someone next to you; it’s where you start
Shame the feckless who will not see
Take off the blinders; you will be free
We’ve got Power
Love
Freedom
Everyone
We’ve got Power
Love
Freedom
Understand

Sing Your Song to Me
Sing to me, sing to me, sing to me…
Hello, my friend;
Can you help my brother?
Reach out to the helpless;
Sing your song to me.
Hello, my sister;
What can I do for you?
Time can pass so quickly;
Sing your song to me.
The noise of the world
Just won’t stop coming.
We have to stand for a day
When everyone is truly free.
Free to live our lives as was intended.
To live as who we truly are.
Sing your song to me.
Don’t ignore what hurts your sister.
Stop to lend a helping hand;
Sing your song to me.
I am my brother’s keeper
When he needs someone to care
Sing your song to me.
I have to sing this song
For all who won’t listen.
I have a dream for all
Who won’t truly see.
The world is much a less a place without them.
Whoever they may be.
Sing your song to me.
Sing to me, sing to me, sing to me…

She Taught Us
Stand up for your conscience
Stand up to your fears
Pull up from the tide
Standing for your pride
Don’t need what I ain’t got
And I won’t take it from you
But I’m gonna get what they got
Then I’m gonna give it to you.
Every day, in every way
It is our duty to fight for freedom
Do not let them take your pride
It is our duty to fight and win
There is no place you can hide
It is our duty to love each other
You may think it’s an impossibility
Nothing to lose but our chains.
When is enough, enough?
When is too much, too much?
What can a dollar buy?
How can a dollar lie?
Celebrate your freedom;
Don’t give it away.
When they say they want it;
You gotta fight them on that day
Every day, in every way
It is our duty to fight for freedom
Do not let them take your pride
It is our duty to fight and win
There is no place you can hide
It is our duty to love each other
You may think it’s an impossibility
Nothing to lose but our chains.

I Can't Party (LIke I Got No Job No More)
When I’m out, I look for things that please me.
My flesh is tired but my spirit’s willing.
You got to know I’m well past 22.
That don’t mean I forgot just what to do.
I got some love on my brain
If you allow me to explain
We’ve got to drink more champagne.
I can’t party like I got no job no more.
When I see you, I shake in every way
You cause me trouble each and every day
You move it round and round all over town
When you push up I think I’m gonna drown.
I got some love on my brain
If you allow me to explain
We’ve got to drink more champagne.
I can’t party like I got no job no more.

Groove It (While It's Happening)
How do you feel, if you don’t like your situation
How do you know what adds your frustration
I got a feeling things could be much better
You got no feeling, life don’t get together
Reach into your pocket, ’cause I got nothin for ya
Give something to me, something that you cannot see
good is bad, bad is nice; take some free advice from me
If you want to feel it in your soul, reach on out and touch it
Groove it while it’s happening
Let the rhythm take control
Groove it while it’s happening
Let your body touch my soul
Day to day, the righteous got no feeling
Week to week, hour to hour, got no power, you can be so willing
You are the freak, pull it down onto you
It’s almost over, can’t get nothing for two
I hope you’re willing, to let someone else come through
We can get the party, if what you say is true
I got the news, I got the shit; you got to come and dig with it
If you want to feel it in your soul, reach on out and touch it
Groove it while it’s happening
Let the rhythm take control
Groove it while it’s happening
Let your body touch my soul
